Docent i escriptora, Alana Lentin és una dona europea jueva antisionista, colona en terres Gadigal-Wangal (Sydney, Austràlia), i professora d’Anàlisi Cultural i Social a Western Sydney University. La seva recerca se centra en la teorització crítica de la raça, el capitalisme racial i l’antiracisme. Entre les seves publicacions més recents hi ha The New Racial Regime: Recalibrations of White Supremacy (Pluto, 2025) i Why Race Still Matters (Polity, 2020). És membre del col·lectiu fundador de l’Institute for the Critical Study of Zionism. Resum

The New Racial Regime: Recalibrations of White Supremacy amplia la idea de «règim racial» de Cedric J. Robinson a partir de l’observació de les seves múltiples recalibracions en la conjuntura actual. Exploro com el règim racial de la dècada de 2020 sustenta la formació de noves expressions de supremacia blanca. En la meva intervenció recorreré a exemples del llibre —la contrainsurgència dins de les institucions educatives, els atacs contra la història negra i indígena i la curiosa cooptació de les iniciatives decolonials— per revelar el funcionament dels règims racials i com aquests sostenen un capitalisme racial que avança vertiginosament cap al feixisme. Subratllo que la recalibració del règim racial és sempre una resposta a les resistències des de baix, que en descusen les costures fins i tot quan sembla estar en ascens. Treballar col·lectivament per reunir els recursos necessaris per a aquest esforç és la tasca que se’ns planteja davant dels atacs creixents contra els somnis de llibertat dels pobles.

Teacher and writer, Alana Lentin is a Jewish anti-Zionist European woman who is a settler on Gadigal-Wangal land (Sydney, Australia) and Professor of Cultural and Social Analysis at Western Sydney University. She works on the critical theorization of race, racial capitalism and antiracism. She is the author, most recently, of The New Racial Regime: Recalibrations of White Supremacy (Pluto 2025) and Why Race Still Matters (Polity 2020). She is a Founding Collective member of the Institute for the Critical Study of Zionism. Abstract: The New Racial Regime: Recalibrations of White Supremacy extends Cedric J. Robinson’s idea of the racial regime by observing its many recalibrations in the current conjuncture. I explore how the racial regime of the 2020s undergirds the formation of new expressions of white supremacy. My talk will draw on examples from the book – counterinsurgency within educational institutions, attacks on Black and Indigenous history, and the curious co-optation of decolonising initiatives – to pull back the curtain on the functioning of racial regimes as they support racial capitalism hurtling towards fascism. I emphasise that the recalibration of the racial regime is always a response to resistance from below, which unpicks its stitches even as it appears ascendant. Working collectively to gather the resources necessary for this effort is the work we are called to in the face of increasing assaults on the People’s freedom dreams.
